Vimbai Volkwyn 's Story

I heard about ROOTS during an online service in 2020. At the time I was still adjusting to the new town I had moved to, and I was feeling quite isolated. My daughter had just turned two, I was not working, and I was away from family and friends. I found myself questioning my purpose and my worth. I even wondered whether I was on the right track as a wife and a mother. When I heard about ROOTS, it felt like an answer to my prayers. The way the journey was explained during that online service had me hooked, and I signed up immediately.
My journey in ROOTS has been life transforming. Through the lessons, I have discovered so much about myself and my purpose as a woman. Of particular note was when we studied the book, Understanding the Power and Purpose of Women by Dr. Myles Munroe. Every chapter in the book ministered to me personally. Through this study I came to understand that as a woman my place is in God, He who made me and knows the purpose for which I was created. This was such a revelation to me because I had been raised to believe that I was a second-class citizen to men. I even believed that God held men in greater esteem. Looking back after all the teachings I cringe at the ideas that I once held and believed.
I am very thankful to have gone through such an amazing journey with my fellow sisters. I will forever remember Sister Paidamoyo Bvumbe who held my hand and taught me the ins and outs of ROOTS administration with such gentleness and patience. ROOTS has not only strengthened my relationships, but has also enriched my marriage and transformed the way I mother my child. Today, I stand as a woman who is more confident in her identity, secure in her purpose and ROOTED in God.
