Catherine Mwashita's Story

I joined Celebration Church in 2003, carrying the heavy weight of a broken marriage. Just three years later, my ex-husband passed away, leaving me as the sole provider for our young son. The pain and abandonment I felt left me angry and bitter. I was searching for answers, wondering where I had missed it in life.
When ROOTS was introduced, I was one of the first to sign up. I was keen to discover what it held for me. The discipleship completely shifted my perspective through the stories of women in the Bible. I was profoundly touched by the story of Dorcas in Acts 9. She wasn't a millionaire; she was a woman who simply used what she had—her skills and a compassionate heart—to serve others.
Dorcas became my role model. She showed me that I didn't need to have vast wealth or a perfect past to make a difference. I realized that my value wasn't defined by my circumstances, but by my willingness to be used by God.
ROOTS equipped me to see that the struggles I had endured were not in vain. The discipleship helped the "beautiful gem" inside me come out, transforming me into the precious ruby God always intended me to be.
Those painful situations I went through are now the very tools I use to help and mentor other women. My story is no longer one of bitterness, but of redemption and purpose, all because I discovered that everyone has something to give.
