From Overwhelmed to Overcoming: Finding Peace and Purpose After Abandonment

When my husband left me while I was pregnant with our third son, I was plunged into darkness. As a single mom of three boys—one with autism—I was completely overwhelmed. I was consumed by anger and bitterness, which poisoned my spirit and severed communication with my children's father. The financial strain was crippling, and the weight of caring for my family alone felt impossible. I wept constantly, struggled to find rest, and had no idea how to move forward.

My journey to healing began with Divorce Care, but my breakthrough came with ROOTS Discipleship. The teaching on Sobriety was my turning point. It helped me see how my anger was hurting me and my children, blocking any chance of cooperation with my ex-husband.

I learned to pray before engaging in difficult conversations. I started applying the principles of organization to manage my home, my job, my studies, and the specific routines my autistic son needs. Most importantly, I learned to pray fervently for my children.

The change was miraculous. As I released my bitterness, communication with my ex-husband improved. Two years ago, when our autistic son needed urgent surgery, my ex-husband was there, covering the bill and supporting us through the crisis—a direct answer to prayer.

ROOTS didn't just help me survive; it taught me how to thrive. I started a poultry project and other businesses to create multiple income streams. I completed a diploma while raising my family. I now serve in the Children’s Ministry and as a Marketing Administrator, using my gifts to help others.

My sons are thriving, and I have a supportive family in the ROOTS community. Being a single parent is not easy, but I now face every challenge with prayer, organization, and the unwavering belief that God sends help when we need it most. ROOTS gave me the tools to rebuild my life from a place of brokenness to a place of purpose and peace.
