Serving Hope: Samantha’s Journey with EatOut Zimbabwe

Hello, I’m Samantha Gunda and I am on the ROOTS discipleship journey in cell CCWPO4. I work with the EatOut Movement, an organization dedicated to helping the homeless and aimed at eradicating and preventing homelessness in Zimbabwe. Every Saturday we serve an average of 70-200 meals to the homeless in the Harare CBD. We have many other Programme dedicated to equipping the homeless so that they can be off the streets and in proper homes. I joined the EatOut Movement when I realized that I should not wait until I have money or became rich in order to give. I learnt that time on its own is a currency and I can give my time and energy. The homeless community is the least represented group in the country. This population is also always stereotyped for being violent, lazy, irresponsible and troublesome. I used to have that mindset as well until I got to know them. There are women, men and children who were born in the streets and have never known a proper home. Their stories are very compelling and I realized that any of us can be homeless at any time and we would need help. One of our mottos in R.O.O.T.S is service, this means service to the kingdom of God, and service to others, and this is the place I choose to serve. Proverbs 31:20 says “She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy”. If you would like to do this and more, and to help EatOut and help the homeless, please contact us on +263 77 959 9873 or email us on eatoutmo@gmail.com or hello@eatoutafrica.org. There is no contribution that is too little to change people’s lives and the world. I encourage all the ladies to take part in helping the needy in any way they can. The joy that comes with knowing that you have made someone else’s day better is unimaginable!
